smash hit!

so here's the thing - if you haven't seen Sex & the City yet, you MUST! it was incredible! there are so many great twists and turns that you don't see coming and it will change your life :) ok, maybe not, but it will make you want to put on that little black dress and drink a cocktail! when it was over, i was so happy for all 4 of the girls, like they were my friends! haha i went to go see it friday night with my bestie, jordan, and our two other friends, emily and megan. it was so much fun! i heart a good (in this case, great) chick flick!

lights, camera . . .

jp and i had our first official photoshoot yesterday! it was so exciting! we went out to division street (where we probably could've gotten jumped and/or shot) . . . it was totally worth it though! we got some really great photos. here are a few, i'll share more later.
p.s. i got a call yesterday to set up an interview at this little boutique i have been dying to work at! i'm pretty stoked! the interview is on monday- say a prayer for me :) have a wonderful friday!

Free at Last

hello there! my sincerest apologies for not writing for such a long time. so much has happened since i last wrote, so many changes. the main differences that have taken place would be the people in my life. some have taken on strong roles, while others have chosen the backseat. one person in particular, however, has become even more present to me than before, despite the fact that our current situation would typically suggest distance. we're becoming ok with the fact that we are not like everyone else though, and we will handle our relationship the way we see fit. i am so grateful for that. well, my last final exam is tomorrow evening and i am doing this instead of studying at the moment. oops! after tomorrow i am home free! summer is just around the corner and i can't wait!

this is a pic from a trip i took recently. seemed summery so i thought i would share. just fyi i am also in the market for a new camera . . . supeR exciting! i've been thinking about a Nikon D40x or a Canon Rebel. if you have any suggestions or comments i'd LoVE to hear them! i just got photoshop CS2 yesterday and will hopefully be playing with it by tomorrow!!! it will be magical. happy day all!

Blessed Assurance

A family friend died yesterday. He was nine years old. Nine. He was killed in a crash along with another man who was piloting the gyrocopter at 11:30 am on Saturday. It hasn't really set in yet. I think it's 'denial' if that's what you'd like to call it . . . either way, he's gone. His mom, dad and little brother are going to be forced to go on without him. If you know me at all, you know that I am a firm believer in the fact that everything happens for a reason, and like the song goes, 'God is great, but sometimes life ain't good.' It's true. I would never wish anything like this upon anyone, but it is a very huge blessing that this horrible thing happened to a God-fearing family. Any ignorant, untrusting person would first ask why, then blame God. But not the Hays family. In fact, the first thing Jerry said was that he did not blame God for taking his baby, but instead simply asked for prayers of comfort and peace. How great is our God! It's difficult to know that they are not with their son right now, but it's important to remember that God watched His Son die as well. He is a feeling God. Right now I can not stress enough the love of family. Cling to them. Show them now, rather than later, how loved they are.
If you have children, hug them tighter. Be grateful for the time God has granted you with them thus far.

ready for family time!

i had such a great weekend! i went to visit my parents in Sherman, TX. and got to see 4 of my 5 siblings. it was so great! it is very rare that we all get to see each other together and wonderful when it does happen. I also got to meet my brother's new girlfriend. she couldn't be more adorable! it's kind of amazing to look at two people and to know they just fit. he deserves this happiness so much and i couldn't be happier for him.
it was over all a great weekend. the highlight was, as usual, getting to see my dad. i miss him so much since they moved and i hate not being able to see him but maybe once a month. it's hard. i know i'm supposed to be a big girl being away from my parents and all, but i'm a firm believer that kids are supposed to move away from their parents, not the other way around. anyway, i know it sounds dumb, but i worry about him. he is always stressed about so many things and i can't stand seeing him that way. one of these days he's going to have a job where he can put his amaaaazing talent to good use and work at a job that doesn't keep him up at night dreading. someday . . .
it's almost thanksgiving and i'm so excited! my older sister is coming to stay with me tomorrow morning through thursday and i can't wait. we are going to be shopping, scrapbooking, and cooking up a storm! love it! can't wait to have a little quality time with my c-ster! and in a few days, i'll get to see my WHOLE fam again!

the wheels are turning!

oh my goodness i am so stinking excited! i have been studying like crazy nonstop and today it totally paid off --> i got my psych test back today and i freaking aced it! phew! because of all the studying i haven't been able to do much scrapbooking, drawing or painting lately. {being a student is sooo overrated! haha} anyway, i am going to take the next day or two to really let out all of these built up ideas and inspiration to make some *hopefully* great pages!
let's also just talk about how pumped i am that we finally have cool weather?!? i mean dad gummit! it's the middle of november! the high today is 62 degrees and i am LOViNG every minute of it . . . that is until it returns to 80 next week = yuck! all i want is a little scarf / jacket weather . . . now is that too much to ask since it's almost thanksgiving?? anyway, today is gorgeous and i am going to soak it all in! i had lunch w/ matt at cheddars and washed my car . . . aaaand i'm going to get to scrapbook??? this is just too much! love it!

it's official. i finally have a blog now after putting it off for such a long time! i have decided to call this 'my junk drawer' because that is how i intend on using it. a place where i can unload my day on anyone patient enough to bear it. i think it will be good for me. it's all just a matter of time and patience, which i am slowly running out of since it is 3:29 am. anyway, that's all for now!
